Australian artist Braille Face, the solo project of producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jordan White, returns with his striking new single “<3”. A fragmented, emotionally charged meditation on modern love, the track marks the latest step toward his forthcoming album, due later this year.
Blurring the lines between moody electronics and intimate songwriting, “<3” unfolds like a collage of half-formed feelings and conflicting ideas. Built on textured production and White’s quietly piercing vocal delivery, the track captures the dissonance between expectation and reality.
“We’ve got all these ideas about what love is supposed to look like and I think they’re all a bit broken, honestly,” White explains. “I wanted the song to feel like that, like someone emptied a drawer and said, here, sort through this. Good luck.”
That sense of emotional disarray sits at the core of Braille Face’s work. Known for pairing atmospheric, often shadowy soundscapes with raw lyrical introspection, White has built a reputation for music that feels both expansive and deeply personal. His debut project ‘Kōya’ emerged from an ambitious self-imposed challenge to write and release twelve albums in a year; a creative reset that stripped away expectation and reconnected him with instinct. The resulting body of work caught the attention of Tim Shiel and Wally De Backer (Gotye), who relaunched their label Spirit Level to release it.
His 2020 follow-up ‘Original Cast Recording’ pushed even further inward, exploring themes of mental health, identity and masculinity with unflinching honesty. The album earned widespread acclaim, landing in Double J’s Top 50 Albums of the Year and drawing support from BBC 6 Music, KCRW, DAZED, CLASH, COLORS Berlin and VICE. Since then, his music has been championed by tastemakers including Mary Anne Hobbs, Guy Garvey, and Nemone, with global streams now surpassing 3 million.
Now based in London, Jordan continues to evolve both sonically and emotionally. His recent live shows, including a support run with Chet Faker in the UK, have introduced audiences to the immersive, vulnerable world of Braille Face in its most immediate form.
