Galway’s fiercest new noise-makers Shark School crash forward with the announcement of their debut album ‘Selachimorpha’, arriving June 26th via Strange Brew. The news lands alongside their incendiary new single “Don’t Trust A Man”, a track that captures the band at their most unfiltered and confrontational.

Abrasive, urgent and unapologetically raw, “Don’t Trust A Man” is a snarling statement of intent. Built on jagged guitars and pounding rhythms, the track channels frustration into something visceral and immediate. “‘Don’t Trust A Man’ is an abrasive and raw track lamenting the desperation for women to comfortably just be; to just exist free of the burden and disappointment of living within a gendered social hierarchy,” the band explain, with the song cutting sharply through the absurdities of modern life.

Their debut album ‘Selachimorpha’ expands that energy into a full-bodied, cathartic experience. Furious, fatigued and fiercely alive, it’s a record that leans into emotional extremes by grappling with inner turmoil, identity, and the relentless noise of existence. From the biting chaos of “Gnashing Teeth” to the restless tension of “Insomnolence” and the early-hours haze of “5AM”, the album thrives on unpredictability, never settling, and always pushing forward. As the band put it: “Have you ever closed your eyes and let the waves of pure fucking rage wash over them?”

Formed in 2023 and comprised of Nora Staunton (guitar/vocals), Peggy Ford (bass) and Meg Bruce (drums), Shark School have rapidly built a reputation as one of Ireland’s most electrifying live acts. Their sound exists somewhere between the deadpan chaos of Wet Leg and the raw edge of Nirvana, but twisted into something sharp, sarcastic, and laced with biting humour and Catholic guilt.

Their rise has been swift. From sharing stages with NewDad and The Love Buzz to standout appearances at Electric Picnic and All Together Now, the trio have become known for their chaotic, high-energy performances and fiercely loyal following. They’ve sold out Galway’s Róisín Dubh twice; once “in the name of feminism” and once, fittingly, “in the name of fish.”

With ‘Selachimorpha’, Shark School cement themselves as a band unafraid to be loud, uncomfortable, and completely themselves.
