After the roaring response to her previously shared delights “Shine” and “Struttin” earlier this year, Kentish Town-born torch singer and Soho storyteller Madeleine Rose Witney has now released her eagerly-awaited debut EP ‘From Now On’, showcased by its sweeping lead single “Shut Up & Kiss Me’.

Anchored in the emotional weight of change, ‘From Now On’ captures the moment where one chapter ends and another tentatively begins. With its title evoking a blend of hope, resolve, and melancholy, the EP serves as a space between who Madeleine Rose Witney was and who she’s becoming. Each track reflects this duality, offering moments of reflection and vulnerability alongside glimmers of strength and forward motion.

“‘From Now On’ is a phrase to me that feels heavy with hope, strength, and quiet sadness,” she adds. “It marks an ending of one life and a beginning, with this new release, into the world - a full stop and an open door.”

While the new single “Shut Up & Kiss Me” is an intimate yet infectious exploration of love’s contradictions. Blending poetic lyricism with a laid-back groove, the track captures that pivotal moment when emotion overflows and reason gives way to feeling.

Speaking about the new track, she said, “Shut Up & Kiss Me” is a poet set to a grooving beat. A song about tangled love and the moment you pull yourself out of the spiral with a kiss. It’s melancholy, but its rhythm insists you at least tap your foot. I wanted it to feel like a private dance party - the kind that lets you shake off the sadness.”

‘From Now On’ Tracklist:

  1. Shine

  2. Struttin

  3. Shut Up & Kiss Me

  4. Behind Those Eyes

Rooted in the dimly lit jazz bars and glitter-streaked corners of London, Madeleine Rose Witney’s songs are vivid short films in song form. A self-taught singer, she found her calling sneaking into Camden venues as a teenager, mimicking the greats like Julie London and Lena Horne, and forging an identity through vinyl, velvet, and vibrato.

But ‘From Now On’ is a deeply personal promise. Inspired by a letter left by her late aunt, it marks the moment Madeleine stepped out from cover singer to artist in her own right.

“The songs I wrote for myself stayed in the shower,” she admits. “But this EP… it’s the first time I’m putting my own stories out there. It’s for her. It’s for me. And it’s for anyone who’s ever felt like they were just a little too much for the room.”

From the shimmering but sinister ‘Shine’, a song about women walking home alone at night, to the bittersweet ‘Shut Up & Kiss Me’, a patchwork of the sayings that defined her closest relationships, the EP is unafraid to contrast the cinematic with the broken.
