Swiss-Brazilian artist Caroline Alves returns with her captivating new single “Innocence”, released June 5th via SOAP Music and distributed by AWAL, and produced by Louis Ryan (Hozier and Karen Harding).
Blending shimmering alt-pop textures with emotional lyricism and cinematic storytelling, “Innocence” captures the intensity and recklessness of loving someone before experience teaches caution. Built around her own commanding vocal presence and immersive production, the song transforms youthful vulnerability into something both intimate and widescreen.
“I wrote ‘Innocence’ about the beautiful chaos of loving someone with your whole heart before you know better,” Alves explains. “It’s about being naive enough to believe love can heal everything. I also used a different kind of approach during the songwriting of this track: I wanted this song to be very descriptive and sound like an image or a movie. So you could actually paint or make a script out of my lyrics.”
That visual approach runs throughout the single. “Innocence” unfolds like a blurred memory or fragmented coming-of-age film, where moments of tenderness and destruction collide beneath glossy alt-pop production and soulful undercurrents. It further showcases her ability to blur the boundaries between pop, electronic music, jazz and soul into something entirely her own.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro and now based in Switzerland, Caroline Alves has steadily emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting alternative pop voices. Since releasing her debut EP ‘Moonlight’ in 2020, she has earned acclaim for music that balances vulnerability and strength, often exploring themes of self-doubt, desire, excess and emotional survival.
In 2021, Alves won the Swiss Music Award for Best Talent, a defining moment that accelerated her rise and introduced her to wider international audiences. Since then, she has performed at major festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival and Gurtenfestival, while also supporting Coldplay for two sold-out shows at Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium in 2023.
With over 1.5 million streams across her catalogue and comparisons to artists such as Astrid S, Kenya Grace and Sevdaliza, Alves continues to carve out a space that is emotionally fearless, genre-fluid and impossible to pin down.
This summer, she will continue building momentum with a run of live performances across Switzerland, France and the UK, including a support slot for Ricky Martin on June 24th in Switzerland.
