British artist Alexander Wolfe returns with the stirring new single "Talk"
After a period of personal reckoning and recovery, acclaimed singer-songwriter Alexander Wolfe makes a striking return with “Talk”, his first release in over four years.
Out August 22nd, “Talk” is a raw, poetic and profoundly human song that wrestles with one of the most heartbreaking statistics of modern life: in the UK, men under 50 are more likely to die from suicide than anything else.
Built on atmospheric textures and Wolfe’s unmistakable emotive vocal, with shades of Elbow’s Guy Garvey, “Talk” is both tender and urgent, a vulnerable call-to-arms for men to open up before it’s too late.
“Talk is a song I wrote in response to the statistic that young men are more likely to die from suicide than anything else,” Wolfe shares. “How am I meant to accept the fact that the thing most likely to kill me in this world is me? The song is a call to action for lads to talk about their shit. To each other, to therapists, to the old lady on the bus, whoever it is, just talk. We have to break the shame. We need to stop seeing vulnerability as weakness.”
The track marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for Wolfe, following a difficult stretch that included a stay in a mental health rehab unit in 2023.
Raised in 1990s Woolwich, Wolfe has always channelled life’s hardest truths into his art, building a reputation for cinematic songwriting and fearless emotional honesty. This new material goes deeper than ever before, offering listeners not just catharsis but companionship, a reminder that pain shared is pain halved.
With ‘Talk’, Alexander Wolfe returns not only as a songwriter of rare sensitivity, but as a vital voice in a conversation that desperately needs to be louder. This is music for anyone who’s ever felt like they had to hide how they feel, and a reminder that reaching out might just save a life.
