Following the rousing response to her much-loved recent singles “Do You Want To Be Honest?” and “It’s Never Easy (Leaving Someone Behind)”, and a recent nomination for the Dutch peer voted annual Zilveren Notenkraker award (Silver Nutcracker), Dutch/Surinamese singer-songwriter néomí continues the support for her new EP ‘Another Year Will Pass’ by offering up her tender new swoon “Trigger”.
Continuing that lovelorn aesthetic she has become synonymous with over the years, “Trigger” sits as a raw and emotionally unfiltered ballad about the quiet devastation of loving someone you know you can’t keep. Centred on the impossible choice between holding on and letting go, the song captures the tension of inevitable heartbreak, where every path leads to pain.
Speaking about the new release, she said, “The song is so real and painful I don’t think it needs a lot of explaining. It’s about being deeply in love with someone you know it will not work with. You’ve never felt like you really want to hold on, but you know either way it’s going to hurt. Staying or leaving. Preparing your heart for the inevitable hurt and difficulties that come with that.”
Video director Dirkje Duwel gives some insight into the visual for “Trigger”, “for this video, we drew inspiration from the iconic western stand-off. In a subtle, charged atmosphere, Neomi and Anna engage in a delicate challenge, gradually finding their way back to each other. Through the use of point-of-view shots and the intricate exchange of glances, we aimed to convey the tension to the viewer. Bringing this emotion to life on screen was a truly rewarding challenge.” Watch HERE

Following the release of her Edison Award winning debut album ‘somebody’s daughter’ in 2024, néomí steps into a fresh creative chapter with Nettwerk in 2025. These coming months will see her balance the raw intimacy of her folk influences with a more expansive, full-band approach, as she explores themes of self-acceptance, change, and resilience.
Born and raised in Zwijndrecht, Netherlands, néomí has always drawn inspiration from the simplicity and stillness of her surroundings. Her songwriting is a reflection of life’s contradictions—the struggle between wanting control and learning to let go, between nostalgia and moving forward. With her upcoming music, she invites listeners into a deeply personal sonic world.
Since her breakout EPs ‘before’ (2022) and ‘after’ (2023), néomí has built a reputation for her soul-baring storytelling and intimate, cinematic soundscapes. Having grown a dedicated following across Europe, her signing with Nettwerk signals an exciting new phase—one that will see her music reaching even wider audiences while staying true to the emotional depth that defines her artistry.
For néomí, songwriting is more than storytelling—it’s a space for transformation, reflection, and emotional survival. The Dutch/Surinamese singer-songwriter crafts songs that feel like quiet revelations, drawing from moments of deep introspection, fleeting observations, and the kind of wandering thoughts that arrive when the world goes quiet. Her latest body of work emerged during a period of immense personal change, shaped by two years in therapy and a profound shift in how she sees herself and the world around her.
“I noticed a change within me,” she says. “After going through so much, I’ve come to accept that my brain doesn’t always work the same as others—and that’s something I now see as beautiful.” That acceptance threads through every song she writes, whether she’s reflecting on the lingering echoes of a long-ended relationship or capturing the aching distance between people and their own peace. For néomí, even the smallest moments—a child crying on the London Underground, a quiet walk under a blue sky—can open the door to a deeper truth.
What sets this new chapter apart is a new kind of clarity: songs written not just from pain, but from healing, from humor, and from a place of gentle protest. “I’ve come closer to my feelings than ever before,” she says. “This time, I’ve written songs that don’t just speak for me—they reflect both sides, and they speak for the world I’m observing too.” Through her distinctive blend of indie folk and poetic pop, néomí invites listeners to sit with their own thoughts, to wander with her, and to find comfort in the beauty of simply being human.
