Following the enormous praise for her second single ‘This House’, which was played on BBC Radio 1 for Jack Saunders’ Future Artists and Molly King’s Future Pop shows, Tom Robinson at 6 Music, Brooke Reese’s Apple Music’s Global Chart Show, Jess Iszatt at BBC Introducing, and Amazing Radio, as well as tastemaker support from Record of the Day (Song of the Week), Lock Mag, 1883 Magazine, Hot Press, Golden Plec, Fresh On The Net, Going Solo, Ones To Watch, The Most Radicalist and many more, alt-pop artist Siobhán Winifred is back to her vibrant ways once again with her captivating new offering ‘Sober’.

Continuing to develop that warm, shimmering and authentic approach to the alt-pop sound she is quickly becoming synonymous with, ‘Sober’ sees her return in stellar form throughout. With her rich and soaring voice layered across a broad and diverse production from beginning to end, she looks set to become one of the most talked-about new names for the year ahead.

Speaking about “Sober”, Siobhán gives this insight, “I wrote Sober about the conflicting emotions you experience when your relationship with someone is based on no attachment and no expectations. It's about the constant push and pull, where every word and action can have a double meaning. Lyrically the song is about how, when you’re feeling lost, you attach your worth to their interest in you and do whatever you cannot to lose it. Sometimes despite all the warning signs that are there, it's hard to resist the sense of self-protection and direction that comes from placing your sense of self in someone else’s interest in you: you know you need to let go but just don’t have the strength to. Ultimately, I like to think Sober is a very relatable song that captures the emotional conflict we experience when we find ourselves in a relationship with a inevitable expiration date.”

Alongside the announcement of her latest single, Siobhán Winifred has also been longlisted for this year’s Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition 2023. The infamous contest sees 90 new and emerging artists compete for a slot on one of the main stages at this year’s event, and will also be awarded a £5,000 Talent Development prize from PRS Foundation, with two runners-up also awarded a £2,500 PRS Foundation Talent Development prize.

With a strong Irish heritage, Siobhán Winifred is an emerging alt-pop artist who grew up in the Dorset countryside but now lives in London. Inspired at an early age by the music of Rufus Wainwright, Leonard Cohen, and Alex Turner, Siobhan’s captivating voice and vulnerable lyrics combined with atmospheric instrumentation and electronic beats aim for the sweet spot where you could cry and dance to it, all at the same time.

Releasing her debut single, ‘Black Hole’ in June 2022, Siobhán saw early support from Spotify with the track added to New Music Friday, Our Generation, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Indie, Fresh Find’s UK & Ireland. The song has also attracted early support from BBC Introducing, 6 Music and Radio 1.
