Packed with a killer hook and a seismic pop chorus, Patrick Martin releases his brand new single ‘Both Of You’ on September 20th through B-Unique Records.  ‘Both Of You’ kicks off his partnership with British producer Kid Harpoon (Florence + The Machine, Harry Styles). Blessed with a Springsteen-esque vocal, it’s about betrayal, from the point of view of the person left behind. Listen to ‘Both Of You’ on Soundcloud / Spotify

Speaking about ‘Both Of You’ Patrick explains, “This song was born out of an experience a few of my close friends have gone through, which is walking in on your best friend and your significant other.  This is the first song I’ve ever written with one of the best in the world, Kid Harpoon. I’m excited for the world to hear this song and loads more from us.”

The light-hearted video for ‘Both Of You’, directed by Theo Watkins (IDLES, Fenne Lily, Mosa Wild), follows a downtrodden and heartbroken Patrick, on possibly not the greatest day of his life. What could go wrong, most certainly does. Watch it HERE

Of the video, Patrick says, “I love this video. Being in this industry you can sometimes take yourself too seriously, so I was really happy when the director pitched this video idea to me. The Beatles are a massive inspiration to me, and I feel like this is the kind of thing they would do.”

‘Both Of You’ is the follow up to Patrick Martin’s previous singles; the dynamic, sweetly harmonic debut, ‘Cinema Love’ which was followed by the darkening cloud of ‘Stranger Nights‘. Collectively they have already amassed over 1.5 million streams and received global Spotify NMF support and Apple’s Best of the Week.

Patrick Martin is the small-town boy who wants to conquer the big city. He’s an old soul with a young spirit who rules the stage, the bold, brash performer who spends his spare time caring for abandoned animals at his local dog shelter. He’s a contradiction, but it all kind of makes sense when you let his potent songwriting wash over you.

Brought up in Saukville, Wisconsin, he always felt like the odd one out in his friendship group. “Where I come from is like country folk, I guess,” he smiles. “Sports are our biggest thing. It’s a unique thing for me to follow this path, because I definitely don’t fit in quite with the culture there.”

A singular voice, Patrick Martin retains his small-town sensibilities, but transports them to a bigger stage. An emphatic performer, his songwriting demands to be heard in stadiums, with this American artist speaking longingly of those classic Bruce Springsteen concerts, or even Queen icon Freddie Mercury. “People come to see a show,” he says simply. “I don’t want to just sit up there and sing my songs, and be passive. I want to put on a fucking show and leave people open-mouthed.”

But these theatrics bely the extremely personal nature of Patrick Martin’s songwriting. As a kid he suffered badly from crippling anxiety and panic attacks, only confiding in his mother. “She was my rock.” When he reached university, though, salvation came in the form of a girl. He pursued her for months, before the two finally fell in love – but he was young, and stupid, and his own actions tore the relationship apart. Guilt-racked, this darkness consumed him, sending him on late night walks to the badlands of the city. Writing music was his saviour.

Relocating to Los Angeles, he threw himself into music, taking on session after session. Gathering a team who believed in him, Patrick Martin was able to open up as never before – and the results are startling.

Just 12 months ago Patrick Martin was working in the Apple store in Los Angeles – now he’s meeting the people at the very top. Setting his eyes on the biggest prize of all, Patrick Martin wants to take his music around the world. Constantly writing, he’s already plotting his debut album, and wants to deepen the social element of his lyricism.
